Your local council needs you!

Councillors are representatives of their community. They make decisions that shape the future of their towns, villages and cities on issues such as street safety, public health, and transport. It is therefore so important for local councillors to represent the full diversity of our communities, making decisions to impact life for the better. Sadly however, only 36% of UK’s councillors are women, only 7% are from BAME communities and only 16% of councillors in England & Wales are under 45.

Designed in partnership with the LGA’s Be a Councillor Programme, this guide will provide you with everything you need to know about becoming a councillor. It follows hundreds of conversations with women in our community, answering the questions we hear most regularly to ensure you have everything you need on this important next step of your political journey.

So, if you are passionate about your local area and want to have a say over decisions being made in England, get in touch, join our free community and read on!
