Free and vital online training on how to make active bystander interventions when you witness incidents of online abuse.
Evidence shows that women are more likely to be harassed online, and this is even worse for women of colour, disabled and LGBT+ women. It is not the responsibility of the victims of online abuse to protect themselves and deal with its lasting effects, and Glitch is doing everything it can do to hold decision-makers accountable and stop the problem at its core. In the meantime our workshops will equip participants to navigate the online landscape with confidence. We want to help women of all ages, backgrounds and political affiliations to overcome the barrier of online abuse, feel more confident to use online platforms in order to use their voices online.
It is not the sole responsibility of the victims of online abuse to protect themselves and deal with its lasting effects. This module will introduce learners to the role of an Online Active Bystander and support them to identify actions to address harmful online behaviours and support victims of online abuse.
By the end of this workshop, you will be able to:
1. Define the role of an Online Active Bystander
2. Identify 5 actions to take in response to witnessing abuse online
3. Explore personal limitations of being an Online Active Bystander
Who’s this workshop for?

This workshop is being delivered by Glitch as part of our Equal Power coalition.

In 2019, 100% of workshop participants reported gaining skills to be safer and more resilient online compared to just 18% before the training.
93% left feeling safer expressing themselves online and 85% reported improved confidence levels using social media.

This training workshop will be delivered on Zoom. Both Glitch’s online code of conduct for participating and a Zoom link will be sent closer to the session.
