In this workshop designed specifically for women in the Orkney Islands, we will demystify the process of standing for elected office in preparation for the local elections this May.

This workshop will be facilitated by Elect Her and the Orkney Islands Council. You will learn more about the process of standing for local elections and hear from current local Councillors about their experiences. Areas for discussion we will cover include:

• Why should you consider politics

• Who are you and what is the change you want to make

• How can you stand as a candidate

• How to overcome barriers in the process

• What support is available to you

Join us for either our morning or evening session to learn more about why we need more women like you standing in the local elections this year and the support and resources we have available to help you get there.
